| BIOLOGicalSignificance | YB1(Yboxbindingprotein1)containsahighlyconservedcoldshockdomainandisatranscriptionfactorthatbindstoaCCAATbox.IthasbeenreportedthatPglycoproteinishighlyexpressedincisplatin-resistantcancercelllinessincethesequenceofCCAATboxislocatedinthepromoterregionofthedrugresistancegeneMDR1,andYB1isinvolvedintranscriptionofPglycoprotein,theproductoftheMDR1gene.YB1isusuallypresentinthecytoplasm,butittranslocatesintothenucleusincancercellsthathavebeenexposedtoUVrADIationoranticancerdrugs.AnditisthoughttobeinvolvedinDNAdamageorrepairinassociationwithPCNAorp53.YB1isalsohighlyexpressedinthenucleusinabouthalfofallnonsmallcelllungcancers,andtheoutcomehasbeenreportedtobeparticularlypoorincasesofsquamouscellcarcinomainwhichitisexpressedinthenucleus.Ithasalsobeenreportedthat,witha5yearrecurrencerateof66%,theoutcomeofYB1-positivecasesispoorinbreastcancercasestreatedwithpostoperativechemotherapy(inYB1-negativecasestherateis0%),andthatthereisnocorrelationwithHER2expression.Recently,YB1hasbeenreportedtobeaprognosticMarkerofhepatocellularcarcinoma. |
